Fire dancers, dragon dancers, drummers, and vendors of various merchandise all vie for space in the narrow streets. It was madness. It was fun.
Incantatus Festival 2015
I figured a beach weekend filled with music is the best kick-off to Summer 2015. I was right.
Borawan island dawn and jellyfish encounters
Borawan Island is a play on Boracay and Palawan, as homage for the sand of the former and the rock formations of the latter. No offense to the person who named it (or even to the people who make their living there), but they only got the rock formations right. Boracay sands it isn't, so we dubbed it "Batawan" instead (as in, sands of Batangas and rock formations of Palawan).
Guimaras (Mis)Adventures and Iloilo Food Binge
Hanging out at the top of the light tower then eating our lunch on the steps shaded by trees and sunbathing on this flat platform on top of the islet where there's absolutely no shade.
I left my heart in Puraran Beach
This trip was one of those "oh, there's a seat sale, let's go" kind of trip. I have a lot of those, apparently. The difference with this one, however, is that it's the first time I'm going to Puraran. Actually, it's the first time I ever set foot on the island of Catanduanes. Catanduanes is … Continue reading I left my heart in Puraran Beach
Southern (Luzon) Exposure: The Villa Escudero-Tagaytay Edition
We've planned countless trips but none pushed through. So, it was a bit of a surprise to me that this one did. It almost didn't, by the way, since the weekend we planned on going was the weekend after the heavy flooding of the metro. Realizing that we do better with impromptu trips, we decided … Continue reading Southern (Luzon) Exposure: The Villa Escudero-Tagaytay Edition
San Narciso Beach, Zambales
I was supposed to be a part of a 25-people trip to Cagbalete Island in Quezon last weekend but due to some unforseen circumstances, the entire trip was cancelled two days before we were supposed to go. Boo. So, what's a girl with itchy feet and a strong desire to go to the beach going … Continue reading San Narciso Beach, Zambales
Malasimbo Festival 2013 Weekend
I kicked off the month with a weekend trip in celebration of music, arts, friendship, and all that jazz. I went to the Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro. Basically, it was a trip with very minimal plan. Very minimal plan. I actually found out about it when I saw a … Continue reading Malasimbo Festival 2013 Weekend
Roaming Around Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
March 2012 The crazy people and I went to Ho Chi Minh City. It was the 100th year Anniversary of St. Paul University Manila and, as a gift, they sent their employees on a tour to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. Since my mother had been an employee for over 15 years now, she got the … Continue reading Roaming Around Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Conquering Mt. Pinatubo
Last February 18, 2012, I was finally able to do what I have been wanting to do for 4 years: hike up to the crater of Mt. Pinatubo. I was actually a bit worried then that I couldn't do it because I had been sick for almost the whole of February, but I decided to … Continue reading Conquering Mt. Pinatubo
