The Rey-Reys have fallen into the tradition (for the past three years anyway) of going to the beach the weekend of my birthday. This year, we went to my favorite beach province, only in a different town.

San Narciso resorts were full, so we found one in Botolan, one town shy of Iba, Zambales. Took about 4 hours of easy driving through NLEX and SCTEX.

And, as always, it was a weekend of beach, waves, and sun.

We went to the wet market of neighboring Iba on the second day in search of fresh fish. Not disappointed.

Some notes:

  1. We stayed at Rama International Beach Resort. They’re very accommodating and perfect for groups.
  2. Waze was our best friend not just going there from Manila but also looking for the wet market. Also, we asked locals a lot of questions about market direction, best days to go, and market hours.
  3. As with anywhere, do not litter, leave things as it were, follow rules, don’t leave your things unattended, and respect people, culture, and beliefs.

Still chasing,

Lyra
